Q: In a few sentences, tell me about yourself.
A: "I love spending time with family and friends including our three grandchildren; Brantley, Cora and Hank. There are many things I enjoy - time at home with my wife, book club, mobility 25, yoga, hiking, golf, puzzles, yummy food, delicious wine, travel and nature. My happy place is spending time at the beach or in the mountains by a river."
Q: Describe yourself in three words.
A: "loyal, caring, dependable"
Q: We live in Winchester so I have to ask....are you an Ale 8 drinker?
A: "Yes"
Q: Are you a dog or cat person?
A: "Dog"
Q: What's your favorite season?
A: "Fall"
Q: How long have you lived in Winchester?
A: "I'm a Winchester native, however I lived away for 35 years in Colorado. I've been back in Clark County for 10 years now."
Q: What are you known for around town?
A: "I hope I'm known as someone who loves creating a community in which you want to live. I love supporting our local community and strive to make Winchester/Clark County a great place for all, not just a few.
Q: If you work or own a business in Winchester… what is it that you do and/or what is your business?
A: "I work in Lexington, however I support many of our local restaurants and businesses in Winchester."
Q: Where is your favorite place to eat in Winchester?
A: "We have a number of good places to eat. I enjoy Lomas, LaTrattoria, Engine House for Pizza, Abettor for brunch with Bell on Wheels and of course, the best sandwich in town is at South Main Market."
Q: What are some of your favorite places to go in Winchester-Clark County?
A: "Legacy Grove Park, Farmers Market on Depot Street, Leeds Theater, Dirty South Pottery, Masons on Main, Eclectic Alchemy, Lower Howards Creek Nature Preserve, The Om Place, Full Circle Market, Harkness Edwards Winery and our back yard."
Q: In what ways are you involved in the community?
A: "I'm involved in different ways: I enjoy volunteering for events including Habitat for Humanity Builds on Lincoln Street, serve as a Board Member for the Greater Clark Foundation, along with Lauren Frazer created the first Farm to Table Dinner in support of our local Farmer's Market, introduced the I Was Here project to Winchester with an installation in February 2019 including the creation of the community project "Of Thee I Sing." Of Thee I Sing can now be seen in the gallery hall of Clark Regional Medical Center."
Q: What, in your opinion, makes Winchester-Clark County a unique or special place to live?
A: "Legacy Grove Park is a true gem not just in our county but the region. The programming being created by Deborah Jackson and Hope Broecker is exceptional and inclusive. We have the Winchester Black History & Heritage Committee that are doing great things in our community. Our downtown is buzzing with so many small businesses owners and activities. The people here are so friendly and how cool is it we are home to Ale-8 one and Beer Cheese!"
Q: If you were going to introduce someone to Winchester-Clark County for the first time, what places, faces or activities would you tell them not to miss?
A: "1) Spend time downtown walking the African American Heritage Trail - this is not to be missed, 2) spend time at Legacy Grove Park, 3) catch a play at Leeds Theater, 4) stroll our downtown and visit all the wonderful shops and restaurants, 4) grab a craft beer or local wine at Abettor Brewing, 5) catch live music at one of the Legacy Night concerts or Rock the Block concerts on Main, 6) experience the Beer Cheese or Pioneer Festivals, 7) visit the Farmer's Market, 8) drive out to Beech Springs Market and then down to the river and Lower Howard's Grove."
