Q: In a few sentences, tell me about yourself.
A: "I believe in the concept of servant leadership. I believe I should do all I can to show up, lead by doing and serve my neighbor and fellow citizen regardless of that person's status or station in life. I am a Virginian by birth, Tennessean by education, Marine Corps and Vietnam Veteran, person of Faith, husband, Father, and Grandfather. I have serve the citizens of Winchester as City Manager for 25 years and Mayor for 16 years"
Q: Describe yourself in three words.
A: "Patience, Discipline, Respect"
Q: We live in Winchester so I have to ask....are you an Ale 8 drinker?
A: "Yes"
Q: Are you a dog or cat person?
A: "Dog"
Q: What's your favorite season?
A: "Fall"
Q: How long have you lived in Winchester?
A: "41 years"
Q: What are you known for around town?
A: "Showing up and showing up on time. Being available wherever and when ever there is a Community need. Being candid and forthright in all matters. Being a servant leader."
Q: If you work or own a business in Winchester… what is it that you do and/or what is your business?
A: "I am the Mayor for the City of Winchester. I am an elected official in my 16th year. The City is a municipal government responsible for a wide array of municipal services."
Q: Where is your favorite place to eat in Winchester?
A: "Broadway Cafe"
Q: What are some of your favorite places to go in Winchester-Clark County?
A: "I have several benches in public parks and on Main Street that I visit. I enjoy local sports from youth and little league up to High School sports at George Rogers Clark High School. I visit churches in the Community. I enjoy community events like street dances, car shows, the Farmers Market, Night Markets, The Beer Cheese Festival, Pioneer Festival, Labor Day Parade, the first day of School, Patriotic and Veterans holidays, the Christmas Parade, being interviewed by local Radio Station on Mornings on Main Program. I could go on with an endless list."
Q: In what ways are you involved in the community?
A: "Being Mayor allows me to connect and be involved in all aspects of Community life. If there is a Community event I try to show up and participate."
Q: What, in your opinion, makes Winchester-Clark County a unique or special place to live?
A: "Our People, Caring, giving and helping at all times. When people are in need this Community rises up and responds. There is a genuine sense of fellowship and caring here."
Q: If you were going to introduce someone to Winchester-Clark County for the first time, what places, faces or activities would you tell them not to miss?
A: "See my list to earlier question. It would be hard to choose one. They are all great."
