Q&A with Betsy Fink: Research Associate and Farm Mom
Q: In a few sentences, tell me about yourself.
A: "I'm a life long Clark Countian. My husband and I have two adult children and together we farm. I hold a B.S. degree in Animal Sciences from UK, and have spent 30+ years as a Research Associate for the UK Division of Plastic Surgery. I enjoy flower gardening, spending time with my family and animals and just being home on the farm."
Q: Describe yourself in three words.
A: "independent, practical, introverted"
Q: We live in Winchester so I have to ask....are you an Ale 8 drinker?
A: "Yes"
Q: Are you a dog or cat person?
A: "Dog"
Q: What's your favorite season?
A: "Spring"
Q: How long have you lived in Winchester?
A: "All my life."
Q: What are you known for around town?
A: "Probably selling lamb meat."
Q: If you work or own a business in Winchester… what is it that you do and/or what is your business?
A: "My family owns a farm Double F Stock Farm, LLC on Boonesboro Road. We also sell lamb meat and produce as Fink Meats and Produce through the Winchester/Clark County Farmers Market and our Farm Bureau Roadside Market at our farm. I also, have two booths at the Winchester Peddlers Mall."
Q: Where is your favorite place to eat in Winchester?
A: "At home!"
Q: What are some of your favorite places to go in Winchester-Clark County?
A: "Winchester First United Methodist Church, Farmers Market, Peddlers Mall, Olde Red Barn Mall, The Om Place"
Q: In what ways are you involved in the community?
A: "I decorate our church sanctuary and play in the bell choir. "
Q: What, in your opinion, makes Winchester-Clark County a unique or special place to live?
A: "I like the small town community where you can build relationships with folks that work at your bank, favorite eateries, and any place you frequent. Also, I like that we are close to Lexington and Richmond which gives us the opportunity for shopping and education that we do not have here in Winchester."
Q: If you were going to introduce someone to Winchester-Clark County for the first time, what places, faces or activities would you tell them not to miss?
A: "For health and well being I recommend The Om Place and Winchester Massage. For local foods Beech Springs Market, Full Circle Market and the Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. If you like to thrift, the Peddlers Mall, Olde Red Barn, and CC's closet are my favorites."
